Dig This Stylish Vietnamese Eatery in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Neighbourhood

Restaurant Porn is a regular column of daydreams presented as a means to introduce BC diners and designers to concepts, looks, and fully-formed ideas that they might draw an inkling of inspiration from.

(via) Around this time last year (2018), Brooklyn landed Di An Di, a modern Vietnamese restaurant in Greenpoint. The name is a vernacular call to action, meaning “let’s go eat!” in Vietnamese.

It’s the dream of three rookie restaurateurs: Kim Hoang, Dennis Ngo and Tuan Bui — all of them first generation Vietnamese-Americans. It was aesthetically realized for them by local designer Huy Bui and decor consultant Michael Yarinsky.

It’s a two-zone space: the bar looks especially dark and seductive while the dining room (with open kitchen) appears modern and bright with pastel pinks and greens brightened by white brick, white wood-panelling and white table tops (not to mention a skylight or two). Both zones are complemented by the liberal employment of plants.

From what I’ve read of the cuisine, Di An Di strikes a balance between traditional and creative with the scope of the menu allowing for plenty of riffing on classics. Word is it’s always busy, boisterous and loud. With its spicy pig tails, turmeric catfish and variety of noodle soups, I imagine it smells pretty amazing, too. Take a look…
