Hey Happy Coffee to Get Even Happier

One of our favourite little coffee shops in Victoria will soon be getting a lot bigger with plans to expand into the space next door.

Hey Happy Coffee owner Rob Kettner has partnered up with Chinatown’s OLO Restaurant to expand Hey Happy into the space next door.

They took possession of the address (formerly Escents Aromatherapy) this past summer and plan to have it ready for launch before Christmas.

As Hey Happy regulars are well aware, it’s somewhat of a tight squeeze once you get over ten people in the existi ng cafe, so this expansion will ease that pressure with more seats while also introducing a much expanded food program courtesy of OLO chef/co-owner Brad Holmes. That means a new kitchen, which will be positioned where the space opens to Market Square. The two spaces will be connected via new walkways and windows.

We’ll be following along as this project develops. In the meantime, take a look at these raw space shots we took the other day and some early renderings from the fine folks at Bidgood + Co. Interior Design.
