This upcoming weekend, the Cowichan Valley Arts Council is hosting a special one-day-only art show and sale in their PORTALS Gallery to honour local artist and graphic designer, Dale Nigel Gobel, who passed away late last year.
As dngStudio, Dale created a portfolio of illustrations in his signature colourful and bold-lined aesthetic – including many of people and local places – as well as stand-out artwork and branding for a bunch of BC brands, such as JoieFarm (he was responsible for those spectacular Chic Fille labels, among other things), Joy Road Catering and Creek & Gully Cider. The exhibition, called “Home is Where the Art Is”, is a retrospective of Dale’s lifetime’s work, with some proceeds from sales being donated towards the Vancouver Island Kidney Patients’ Association.
“Home is Where the Art Is” will be on display all day Saturday, February 8th from 10am to 4pm. If you’re in the Duncan area this weekend then be sure to swing by – or go out of your way – to enjoy this rare opportunity for a brilliant eyeball-feast created by a much-loved local artist.
